Our Family History

Herbert and Gertrude Hinds 1955

Here is a Wedding picture of my (Tim Hinds) mom and dad.  This was sent to me many years ago by my uncle Bill along with some other interesting photos of my family's history.

Herbert and Gertrude Hinds, married on August 6th, 1955, in Kansasville, Wisconsin and had been married for 67 years upon their passing in 2022.

On this page I will share some photos and a little history perhaps of my immediate family and their ancestors.  I will also tell the story of how I became interested in my family history and genealogy in general.

One thing is for certain, if you like to solve mysteries and enjoy learning about history you will easily get hooked on genealogy.  There is so much that you can find out about your past or others in the way they lived and what they were like.

How I got started in genealogy

I believe it was in 2000 that I received a family history book from my parents who had received a copy from other family members, I think.  At first, I browsed through it and set it down not to be touched for several months.  I then picked it up again and started reading it again.  The family history book was compiled by Donald Wright and in it was information about a person named James J. Hinds.

It was James J. Hinds that really sparked my interest in genealogy as his short life ended just 4 miles from my office where I worked at the time.  Since the location piqued my curiosity, I began to do more research on this individual and put some personality in to this person's history.

From there it expanded to include reviewing my own family and looking to add to it.  And the rest as they say, "Is History".

Pictures of the family

With my family history starting to get bigger than I imagined it would be, I decided to put some photos of the Hinds family here for other people to pick up and use in their family tree if they desire.  This gives my fellow genealogists the option to take it or leave it as the picture or pictures may have no value to their work.  So below are some pictures with a description of who, when, and where, if possible.
